Mahmoudi Kurdistani Sahameddin

Ocean Predictions and Applications

Sahameddin Mahmoudi Kurdistani received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering – Hydraulics from the University of Pisa on 25 July 2013. His Ph.D. thesis includes innovation in the application of Dimensional Analysis and based on that he proposed different formulas to predict the main scour morphology parameters downstream of hydraulic structures. He worked at the University of Pisa as a Postdoc Researcher for three years starting from 2013. In December 2015 he won a competition at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy) as a Researcher for a limited period of three years, working in the field of coastal engineering. He carried out a few research projects proposing new formulas for wave breaking index, wave pore pressure distribution inside the breakwater core and riverbank protection against ship-induced waves. He has been the holder of the course “Hydrology and Water Resources Management” at the Department of Engineering for Innovation at the University of Salento during 2016 – 2018.

He has 14 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals obtaining h-index 8, and 10 papers published in international conference proceedings.

In October 2018 he spent 1 month of research visiting at the Lund University in Sweden working on ship-induced wave hydrodynamics.

Since March 2019, he works at CMCC, OPA Division, mainly in activities focused on the integrated rivers and estuaries interactions and hydrodynamics.
